There’s nothing I love more then a gorgeous boutique hotel. Whether you’re passing through a city for some exploration or on a staycation in search of a much needed time out, an exquisite hotel experience should never be compromised. Hotels are an excellent source of design inspiration for me and typically the main highlight when I travel. The smaller and quainter the establishment, the more at home I feel in it, which is the main goal right? A home away from home that makes you sick with design envy, in the best way possible.
Before I travel, I scour the internet for recommendations, reviews, blog features, instagram posts and magazine write ups to find that perfect spot to lay our heads and sip our cocktails in the utmost of style and comfort. To stay in a space I admire, that inspires, that feels like me, really elevates every other interaction along the journey.

One of my all time swoon worthy hotel favorites in So Cal is Surfrider Malibu. It’s been under a spotlight for some time now but still, I’m infatuated with it. With its intimate beach house set up and strong homage to Cali surf culture nestled abreast the Pacific Ocean, there’s something that connects with me with in deep in my soul. A stunning combination of knotty jutes, freshly wrinkled linens, imperfect driftwoods, PERFECTLY curated black and white art and photography, all wrapped up in a 1950’s PCH adjacent facade, is the perfect combination of relaxed beachy realness for me.
After years of pining over this whole aesthetic, I have pulled together my own version of it, for I’m sure a fraction of what the hoteliers spent on its design and furnishings. I love a good look for less, making all my practical yet beautiful interior design realities come true. Take a peak and perhaps indulge in a few boutiquey upgrades with all the visual pleasure and none of the financial guilt.
